001 Clone Chaos
[A: Lounge - Abel and Cain]
[Cain and Abel have been left alone, smaller brother still clinging to the taller one like a limpet. He knows he should let go, but this is so confusing and there is an ache in his chest that says all is not right between them. It's wrong to see his brother and not look into an identical face (albeit set in a scowl), it's wrong to see distress and grief in his eyes when they meet, and he wants it to go back to how it should be.]
...
[B: Kitchen - Rachel, Esther and Nanako]
[Having left the two failures alone the three girls have adjourned to the kitchen, where everything is set up and ready for the perfect mother to cook and clean for her family.
Or something like that.]
[C: Phone - Open to All]
[Some time later, after the emotional rollercoaster of that talk with Abel and still somewhat shell-shocked, Cain has come to himself enough for it to sink in there were others trapped here like them, and if they are all going to be working together then they needed to get acquainted. So there's a young boy's voice over the telephone, sounding calm and friendly. It's just a shame the background noise is less soothing.]
Ah-- Good evening, people of Mayfield. My name is Cain Knightlord and I've just arrived, along with most of the others in this house. Miss Alucard was already here; but the other new people are Abel Nightroad, Esther... [He didn't get her last name, so there's a small awkward pause.] ...and Nanako Dojima. I won't bore you with questions, Miss Alucard has been kind enough to explain most of what we need to know, but--
[What he says next is lost, as there comes a feminine screech from the kitchen, ranting something about 'housewives' and 'lazy priests making their own breakfast'. There's a crash of something heavy and squawk, before finally Cain's voice is audible again.]
--so I'm sure you'll agree with me. If it's not too much trouble, we'd love to get to know you all in return, so please don't be strangers.
[ooc: Part C is open to all and might be responded to by everyone in the house (Cain, Abel, Esther, Nanako and Rachel.]

[Did she just...growl at him? That was a very wolf-like growl. The seriousness in her voice is obvious, but she doesn't sound angry with him at all.]
Yes, there are some people who use the situations the town lands us in to their benefit. There's at least one girl who was forced into drinking milk laced with razor blades while her "father" sat there and watched her down the bottle. He was smiling the whole time, and from what I've heard her talk about that's only the beginning of how awful he can be.
There are some really shady characters in this place, and a lot of them will abuse the positions the town has given them in order to do what they please. There isn't much I know of that we can do about it, but there's a lot more than just the town you'll have to worry about.

...How many 'residents' of Mayfield are non-drones, Miss? Could you guess...?

[She goes quiet as she thinks this over.]
At least a quarter, if not more. If there's at least twenty-six different households with about two adults and two kids per house...
[phone]
...I see. And they're subjected to the same treatment as adults? [D: D: D:]
[phone]
Unless the adults go out of their way to protect the kids? Pretty much. Most of the kids are thankfully closer to eighteen than younger but it's still unnerving. This place thrives on the survival of the fittest. I don't think our captors particularly care.
I'll ask around and talk with the others, see if I can find someone willing to keep an extra eye out for Cain and Nanako. I don't like the idea of either of them getting hurt.
[phone]
[hn. he is righting his chair in this moment of slightly less melodrama.]
...Please don't worry. We'll take good care of them.
What about you, Miss Mika? Are you safe in your household?
[phone]
Still, a few extra people can be all the difference in a place like this. I'll still give everyone a heads-up just to be sure. In my opinion you can never be too careful, you know? Not here.
[phone]
Ah... who is Annie, if you don't mind me asking?
[phone]
[And she's very sincere when she says she trusts them, too.
The next thing out of her mouth is incredibly nonchalant.]
A rather moody seventeen-year-old werewolf.
[phone]
[phone]
[And yes she is a real werewolf, it's special. Mika is still trying to figure out how to handle Annie without being mauled.]
[phone]
[...yeah.]
[phone]
[Ahh ha ha help.]
[phone]
...That... isn't terribly reassuring, you know.
[phone]
If my estimations are correct, you guys got here just in time to have a few days to get used to this place before things go nuts.
I'm sorry.
[phone] 1/2
days before things go nuts? he doesn't like the sound of that... at all. especially since he's... well, powerless, and C... ain is here, and...]

[phone]
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to terrorize everyone, I just want you all to know what could be coming. The last thing I want is anyone being caught off-guard and getting hurt.
If I bring three-dozen cookies will it help you feel a little better?
[phone]
[phone]
[Ahem! I mean what.]
Give me a while and I'll be right over, I have to copy down some information that I was given, and I'll be right over. Is that fine?
((ooc: There's even a log up if you'd like. |d</small))
[phone]
--Right! Right. Thank you so much, Miss Mika! You truly are a saint. An unerringly kind soul! I'm in your debt. Really!!
[ooc: slkjdf /has been stalking it!! I'll jump in a few tags too if that's okay?]
