[Mika takes a deep breath and the humor bleeds out of her voice in an instant. She sounds tired and like she's been repeatedly thrown under a bus.

Sit down now, Abel. This is going to be a very long discussion.

Father Nightroad, welcome to Mayfield, and I sincerely apologize for all of you being trapped here with the rest of us.

What I told Cain is that this town is a social and medical experiment run by at least one man who is currently hiding in the drone body of a young girl. We're not sure if there's more people involved at a higher level or if there's an organization behind it or what. The drones are people who have been brainwashed to fit into the 'model citizen' of a 1950's central United States American dream model. They're real people who act like machines, functioning but not entirely of their free will. Anyone who breaks the mold of the model citizen in some fashion or tries to go against our captors usually ends up droned as punishment.

Also this town breaks out into complete chaos at least once a month, killings, murders, communist scares, whatever the higher ups feel like, it has a tendency to make this place dissolve into a riot. At least that's what I've been able to make out after being here for two months. The milk brought by the milkman is usually laced with something, so I wouldn't let anyone in the house drink it. It's been known to contain anything from internal organs to spiders to hallucinogens to poison or even razor blades. If you want milk, buy it from the store and don't let anyone have the bottles left at the door. The Milkman is one of the more malicious locals, and he's not someone anyone wants to tangle with. We're not even sure if he's completely on the side of the people running this place or if he's a completely loose cannon.

Also, if anyone in your house had special abilities or wasn't human before they arrived, they're human now and whatever powers they possessed are now sealed until further notice. There are two ways to regain anything you've lost. One is to withstand the mayhem that breaks out over the down, endure it and you might get a parcel in the mail with your name on it. Whatever you regain can be anything from material items like clothes or a vehicle or small trinkets from home to immaterial things like powers. The other way to get those items is to go request them from the post office.

I would highly recommend you do not do that. The post man believes in 'fair exchange' and his prices can be very steep. Anything from taking a piece of what you're asking for to memories or body parts. If you want something badly enough to go to the post office to get it, expect to pay dearly for your troubles. It's safer just to wait out whatever is going to happen next and see if you get something in the mail. You'll never know if or what you'll be getting, but it's safer than selling your soul.

I think I've covered everything, but just in case I would highly recommend you check around with others that have been here longer than me. They'll know more than what I've scraped together in the two months I've been here, and they're usually happy to help fill-in the newcomers. You're going to need all the information you can get as it is.

[She sighs, rubbing the back of her neck before she continues.]

I'll bring over the cookies in a bit, try not to panic if someone obviously inhuman shows up on your doorstep. Most of us don't bite and I really don't want to be shot today. Just saying.
