011 Resolutions

[Cain is in the front room, carefully taking down the Christmas decorations. He's got a wide smile on his face, even if there's a slightly wistful look in his eyes as he winds up tinsel and packs away baubles.]

[B: Around Town (Open)]

[On the way to the store this morning, Cain was enjoying the crisp weather now that the town was no longer in the grips of a deep freeze. He's kicking a stone idly as he walks, making a game out of trying to land it on a certain spot each time, when he accidentally kicks it a bit too hard.

--SMASH--!!

It's gone right through the window of a nearby building. Maybe that was your house? The shop you work in? Or maybe you just happened to see the incident and want to laugh at the horrified expression on Cain's face?]

New Year is a time for resolutions in a lot of places and, though I've never made them before, I thought I would this time. So... here we go. I resolve to greet everyone I meet here and make new friends, as well as grow closer to the friends I already have. I resolve to help everyone make it through anything this town throws at us, as well as do my part in finding a way home. I resolve to dye my brother's hair pink at least once this year, and I resolve... to have resolve, to keep looking forward and not let anything break me down.

Do any of you have resolutions? Big or small?

[Incidentally Demyx was walking aimlessly down the other side of the street just as that rock went flying. For a moment the blond looks just as surprised as Cain when it smashes through that window--]

[Bazett had gone inside her house to get a drink when the window was smashed from behind her. She throws open the door, ready to punch whoever did it. She is greeted with the sight of a little boy looking horrified.]

[Looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights, he turned at her voice and nodded jerkily.]

Y...es, it was an accident, I'm so sorry.

[She sighs. She dislikes ominous events during New Year's day because they seemed to herald bad luck for the rest of the year. However, since it was obviously an accident and she could easily fix the window, she decides she can let it slide.]

Please be more careful next time.

That sounds like a very admirable resolution, but you don't have to take all the responsibilities onto your own shoulders.

I... I w-want to agree but... but I a-also know that relying on that is p-pushing away my d-duties. If I d-don't hold myself r-responsible then who is? If I am the r-ruler of a v-vast nation, I n-need to c-carry it strongly or else the p-people are the ones who s-suffer. A w-weak leader who l-lets others c-carry responsibility a-allows corruption.... P-people do things in your name, b-but they're things you never knew of, or d-don't agree with. Those p-people have followers who listen t-to them over anyone else. The l-leader is then only a l-leader in name alone.

A p-puppet figure head....

I know it w-will take many years of r-resolutions but... but it is s-something I owe the p-people who rely on the Ch-Church. It is wh-what I owe Rome and all those e-effected by the Vatican. It is s-something I must s-slowly go toward as b-best I can. E-even if it's just a small tiny s-step at a time.

[ Yet another window destroyed in Lady Tsunade's soon to be shit tier home. However, she can't get over the initial shock that someone actually broke her window. So have her shouting out in a voice that should be slightly, if not wholly, familiar to Cain! ]

[There's something about that voice that rings a bell, but he can't quite put his finger on it at the moment.

Um... he hesitates a moment, before slinking closer and rearranging his face into his best contrite and apologetic child expression.]

[ Just a normal day, just working in the pharmacy when-- OH GOD, THE PLACE IS UNDER ATTACK. Okay, no, it's just a stone flying through the window, but Mikiya obviously still looks pretty surprised that that happened.

So Cain might find Mikiya stepping out of the pharmacy's front door to look at the damage - apparently he hasn't noticed the younger boy just yet. ]

I guess mine is...to keep up with my studies, even if I'm stuck in Mayfield. I'm also going to work on my temper a bit more.

[Chell had been exploring the town, this was the first time she had been around this section, so she was taking everything in.

As she was walking down the street, she was surprised by the sound of shattering glass and jumped slightly because of it. She looked around quickly to find the source and breathed a sigh of relief when she realized that just another person was the cause of it.]
